CORPORATE OUTREACH MANAGER - SOUTHEAST ASIA

 

Terms of Employment: Consultancy, 40 hours a week

Reports to: President and Campaigns Director

Position Location: remote, Southeast Asia

(Malaysia or Indonesia preferred)

About Sinergia Animal:

Rated as one of the world’s most effective animal protection organizations by Animal Charity Evaluators, Sinergia Animal is an international campaigning organization working in countries from the Global South (South America and Southeast Asia) to reduce animal suffering and promote more compassionate food choices. We use negotiations, investigations, peaceful direct actions and innovative campaigning methods to expose the suffering of animals in factory farms. The goal is to persuade major food corporations to adopt and implement policies to phase out the use of animal products which originate from the worst forms of animal production systems, with a focus on intensive confinement practices. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research and build a database of food companies’ profiles and key contacts

  • Establish permanent contact with key corporate contacts via emails, phone calls and in-person meetings; with the goal of persuading companies to adopt cage-free egg policies in their supply chains

  • Travel regionally, as necessary, to meet contacts

  • Represent Sinergia Animal and its campaigns at public events and with the NGO and animal protection communities at large

  • Work with Sinergia Animal's team in translating and developing campaign materials; writing press releases and planning media strategies; acting as a media spokesperson for campaigns and developing proactive relationships with the media.

  • Build alliances with other international and/or grassroots NGOs

Requirements:

  • Southeast Asian, preferably from Malaysia or Indonesia, fluent in English

  • Desirable: Previous experience in communications or campaigning with the media or NGOs

  • Excellent oral communication, writing and proofreading skills

  • Excellent research skills

  • Proven ability to work both independently and in close coordination with a remote team

  • Commitment to the mission and objectives of the organization

  • Commitment to non-violent direct actions

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS

 

Sinergia Animal is looking to expand its Board of Advisors. Advisory Board Members do not have legal responsibilities. Instead, the advisory board will work to give advice and support to the organization in particular ways, as mentioned below. 

The Advisory Board Members help guide our executive directors by ensuring good governance and safeguarding the best interests of our stakeholders through management decisions and strategy implementation. This includes overseeing the organization's sustainability, good performance, supporting staff, and developing new policies. The overall mandate is to help Sinergia Animal reach its highest possible impact, to accomplish its mission, and sustain its core values. 

We are recruiting professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds such as: 

  • Human resources, fundraising, finances, governance and volunteer management

  • Scientific research about animal welfare

  • Health or plant-based nutrition.

INTERSECTIONALITY COMMITTEE MEMBERS

 

Sinergia Animal is looking to create a committee dedicated to guaranteeing diversity and representation within the organization. The committee members are going to be tasked with orienting staff on communications, human resources, campaigns and other actions on how we can be more inclusive and diverse, as well as facilitating our dialogue with other social movements. We truly believe animal, environmental and human rights issues are closely interconnected and would like to ensure this is reflected in the core of Sinergia Animal

 

We are looking for representatives that are both deeply aware of the animal rights cause and are experienced in at least one of these issues: environment, faith, fair trade, gender equality, LGBTQI+, human rights, social justice, racial equality, indigenous movement, workers rights’ movement, migrants' rights, people with disabilities, body positivity, youth movement or others.
