About Sinergia Animal
Rated as one of the world's most effective animal protection organizations by Animal Charity Evaluators, Sinergia Animal is an international campaigning organization working in countries of the Global South (specifically Latin America and Southeast Asia) to reduce animal suffering and promote more compassionate food choices.
We use negotiations, investigations, peaceful direct actions, and innovative campaigning methods to expose the suffering of farmed animals and to help build a world in which no animals are exploited for food.
About the position
Sinergia Animal is seeking an experienced and strategic Development Director to lead and expand the organization’s global fundraising efforts. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a diversified fundraising strategy, with a strong focus on grant writing, foundation partnerships, proposal development, donor communications, and small-donor fundraising.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator and strategist with a proven track record in securing major grants, developing persuasive funding proposals, building donor relationships, and translating organizational impact into compelling fundraising narratives.
This is a leadership role working closely with the International Executive Director and program teams to ensure sustainable funding growth aligned with Sinergia Animal’s mission.
Responsibilities
Strategic Fundraising Leadership

Design and implement a comprehensive global fundraising strategy to support Sinergia Animal’s growth.

Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including foundations, institutional donors, and individual supporters.

Develop multi-year funding strategies aligned with organizational priorities.

Work with leadership to set annual fundraising targets and long-term revenue goals.
Grant Writing & Institutional Funding

Lead the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, reporting, and stewardship.

Write compelling grant proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, and impact reports.

Translate program outcomes and metrics into persuasive narratives for funders.

Build relationships with philanthropic foundations and major donors.
Proposal Development & Budget Pitches

Prepare high-quality funding proposals and budget presentations for donors.

Collaborate with the Executive Director to create clear and accurate project budgets.

Develop strategic funding packages tailored to different donor audiences.
Small-Donor Fundraising

Supervise the design and scale strategies for small and mid-level donor fundraising, including recurring donor programs.

Collaborate with communications teams on digital fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies.

Optimize messaging, storytelling, and donor journeys to increase retention and lifetime donor value.
Donor Relations & Stewardship

Build and maintain relationships with key philanthropic partners and major donors.

Create donor communications, including updates, reports, and impact stories.

Ensure excellent stewardship and transparency with supporters.
Systems & Team Collaboration

Improve internal fundraising systems, pipelines, and tracking.

Coordinate across teams to ensure accurate reporting and proposal development.

Support the professional development of staff involved in fundraising activities.

Provide strategic oversight of the Sinergia Academy Program, including monitoring program performance and organizing data for grant reporting.
Requirements

5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably in international NGOs.

Demonstrated success securing large grants and institutional funding.

Extensive experience with grant writing, proposal development, and donor reporting.

Experience building or managing small-donor fundraising programs.

Strong financial literacy and ability to prepare budgets for funding proposals.

Exceptional written communication skills in English.

Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate program impact into funding narratives.

Experience working in international or multicultural environments.

Availability for frequent travel, especially to the USA and Europe.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in animal protection, environmental, or social justice organizations.

Familiarity with major philanthropic funders and grantmaking institutions.

Experience with CRM systems and fundraising analytics.

Experience fundraising across multiple regions or internationally.
