COMMUNICATIONS LEAD - LATAM

Location: Remote - Santiago de Chile

Terms of Employment: Full-time (40 hours per week).

Reports to: Managing Director LatAm.

Position Location: Remote - Santiago de Chile.

Remuneration: To be defined according to location and experience.

Language requirement: Native Spanish; Advanced or Fluent English.

Rated as one of the world's most effective animal protection organizations by Animal Charity Evaluators, Sinergia Animal is an international campaigning organization working in countries in the Global South (specifically Latin America and Southeast Asia) to reduce animal suffering and promote more compassionate food choices. 

We use negotiations, investigations, peaceful direct actions, and innovative campaigning methods to expose the suffering of farmed animals and to help build a world in which no animals are exploited for food.

About the position

This is an exciting role for a journalist or communications professional with strong experience in digital communications, social media management, and strategic content planning. The Communications Lead will be responsible for planning and executing communication strategies, managing social media channels, leading press outreach, organizing communication-related events, and ensuring cohesive and high-quality institutional and campaign messaging across the LatAm Team.

The Communications Lead will work closely with national teams to develop professional communication materials for all campaigning, fundraising, brand-building, and institutional needs. They will also receive coaching and professional guidance from the International Communications Strategy Director.


Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Content and Media:
  • Write and edit press releases, blog posts, social media content, newsletters, and website content.

  • Follow national news to generate articles and media pitches.

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists from alternative and mainstream media outlets.

  • Supervise the PR agency and the PR specialists' work and propose strategic improvements.

 

Digital Strategy and Social Media:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive digital communication strategies for LatAm.

  • Manage and oversee social media channels, ensuring consistent, high-impact messaging.

  • Monitor performance metrics and propose content optimizations.

  • Coordinate responses to public inquiries across digital platforms (e.g. social media comments, direct messages, web forms).

  • Be fully responsible for all digital campaign outputs, ensuring coherence with Sinergia Animal’s brand guidelines.

Internal Review, Coordination, and Stakeholder Communication:
  • Review and proofread materials produced by national teams to ensure alignment with organizational communication standards.

  • Maintain regular and timely communication with supporters, donors, journalists, and relevant stakeholders through emails, newsletters, community updates, media responses, and organizational announcements.

  • Ensure all communication touchpoints are responded to promptly and with consistent messaging.

  • Coordinate internally with campaigns, development, and operations teams to align communication outputs with organizational goals.

 

Events and Campaigns:
  • Organize and coordinate communication-related events, press moments, campaign launches, and public-facing activities.

  • Participate in peaceful actions and events carried out by the campaign team, supporting all communication needs on-site.

  • Liaise with journalists attending these events and ensure high-quality media engagement and coverage.

  • Support and execute any additional communication tasks delegated by the Managing Director LatAm

 

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess most, if not all, of the following qualities, skills, and characteristics:​

  • Graduate degree or equivalent professional experience in journalism, communications, digital marketing, or related fields.

  • Native Spanish and fluent English.

  • Strong knowledge of social media management and digital communication strategies.

  • Experience in media outlets, PR agencies, or campaigning organizations is highly desirable.

  • Ability to plan and execute communication strategies and events.

  • Excellent writing, organization, and multitasking skills.
