WHY WE EXIST

We're here to build a future in which animals in the

Global South do not suffer for food production.

Why the Global South?

Alarming growth

Higher incomes, changing diets, and population growth in the Global South have resulted in increased demand for and production of animal products. By 2030, around 80% of all animals exploited for food will be in countries of the Global South.

Shocking conditions

As in the Global North, animals in the Global South are mostly raised in crowded factory farms, where they are often mutilated and receive little veterinary care. This results in massive-scale animal suffering, as well as environmental destruction and public health risks.

Neglectedness

The animal protection movement still has a small presence and weak track record in these historically neglected territories.

How we help animals in the Global South

  • Group of people protest holding flyers and standing behind a cage with plush chicken toys outside a modern building with reflective glass, displaying a sign that reads 'Nicolukas.'

    Fighting Cruelty

We secure corporate commitments to end the cruelest forms of exploitation

  • A round wooden bowl filled with fresh broccoli florets, chickpeas, and lentils, placed on a light gray textured surface.

    Changing Habits

We support the removal of  animal products from millions of meals and educate health professionals about the benefits of a plant-based diet

  • A dead chicken lying on a wooden surface with its eyes open, with a person's hand nearby on the left side of the image.

    Uncovering Dirty Secrets

We release investigations to unveil the shocking reality of factory farms and slaughterhouses, and mobilise support for change

  • A woman with shoulder-length black hair, wearing a black t-shirt and ripped blue jeans, is standing and talking to a man with short hair, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The man is sitting on a stone bench and holding a piece of paper. They are outdoors, near a large abstract metal sculpture, surrounded by a city setting with a building and trees in the background.

    Advocating for Better Investments

We influence banks to prioritize animal protection in their lending choices

  • A person wearing an orange vest with the logo 'Papilo Digital' is standing outdoors facing a display about animal suffering and eggs. There are two other people on the other side of the display, examining it. The display features a large image of eggs and a QR code, with text in Spanish that reads: 'Makro, No seas el mejor aliado del sufrimiento animal'.

  • "The main interventions used by Sinergia Animal (corporate outreach, policy work, and producer outreach) are likely to be very effective in improving welfare standards for farmed animals. Additionally, their work on institutional vegan outreach is likely to be very effective in increasing the availability of animal-free products, which can lead to a decrease in the consumption of animal products."

    — Animal Charity Evaluators

  • "Given Sinergia's impressive track record of securing groundbreaking commitments in neglected areas and collaborating with other groups to make progress, we see significant value in supporting their expansion."

    — Center for Effective Altruism

  • “What sets Sinergia Animal apart is its approach of hiring activists in countries long neglected by the animal advocacy movement, such as Thailand, Indonesia, Colombia, and Ecuador, and its ability to quickly make progress in these countries that have little precedent for codifying animal welfare into corporate policy.”
