Sinergia Animal works to create a kinder future, where factory farming no longer exists anD no animals need to suffer for food production in the global south.
Our History
At the start, Sinergia Animal was just four people, and we had no money between us. Together, we boldly led pressure campaigns to persuade food giants in Latin America to do better for animals. Fast forward to today, and we've grown into a team of more than 80 passionate advocates working in eight countries. We expanded our tactics on multiple fronts to shape a more promising future for farmed animals in Latin America and Southeast Asia.
2017
A tiny team of four works on corporate campaigns in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia.
2018
Sinergia Animal is named one of the most effective animal charities in the world by Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE).
2019
Sinergia expands its operations to South Asia, forming teams in Indonesia and Thailand. The team is expanded to 18 advocates, and the first undercover investigations are released.
2020
The team expands to 28 advocates and the Nourishing Tomorrow program (promoting plant-based eating to public institutions) is launched in Colombia. Sinergia is evaluated by ACE for the second time, keeping its recommendation status for the third consecutive year.
2021
The Banks for Animals Program is launched. Nourishing Tomorrow expands to Argentina, Indonesia and Thailand.
2022
The team expands to 53 advocates. After the third evaluation by ACE, Sinergia holds its recommended status for the fifth consecutive year.
2023
With a team of nearly 60, Sinergia’s key programs break our impact records.
2024
Released an undercover investigation into animal transport in Colombia, which led to the creation of a government committee for improvements in animal transport.
2025
EBRD, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, cancels a USD 46 million investment in a franchisee that operates Burger King and Popeyes outlets across Eastern Europe, following pressure from civil society groups including the Stop Financing Factory Farming (S3F) Coalition, of which Sinergia Animal is a part.
Sinergia Animal is the only international animal protection organization in the world whose mission is to work exclusively in Global South countries.
