COMMUNICATIONS LEAD - THAILAND

Language requirement: Fluent in both English and Thai

Rated as one of the world's most effective animal protection organizations by Animal Charity Evaluators, Sinergia Animal is an international campaigning organization working in countries in the Global South (specifically Latin America and Southeast Asia) to reduce animal suffering and promote more compassionate food choices. 

We use negotiations, investigations, peaceful direct actions, and innovative campaigning methods to expose the suffering of farmed animals and to help build a world in which no animals are exploited for food.

About the position

As Communications Lead – Thailand, you will manage Sinergia Animal’s social media presence, create engaging digital content, and support press outreach to raise awareness of our campaigns. You’ll adapt global materials for Thai audiences, coordinate media strategies, and act as a spokesperson when needed. The role also involves representing the organization at public events and supporting broader communication efforts in collaboration with our international team.

 

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

1. Digital Communications and Content Creation: 

  • Develop innovative digital communication plans to support campaign goals and engage Thai audiences. 

  • Manage Sinergia Animal’s social media accounts in Thailand, including a dedicated Facebook page used for campaigns and ads, as well as monitoring and responding to comments and inbox messages.

  • Create, schedule, and oversee engaging social media content, including text, images, and videos tailored to local audiences. 

  • Produce original local content when needed and adapt global campaign materials in coordination with Sinergia Animal’s international team. 

  • Translate and support the development of communication materials such as campaign visuals, social media posts, reports, and web content.

 

2. Media Relations and Press Outreach 

  • Coordinate and support press outreach efforts to increase visibility and media coverage of Sinergia Animal’s campaigns in Thailand.

  • Write and/or translate press releases and develop creative media strategies highlighting compelling, newsworthy angles.

  • Act as a media spokesperson when a campaign team member is unavailable.

  • Build and maintain strong, proactive relationships with journalists and the PR agency to secure meaningful media placements.

 

4. Representation

Represent Sinergia Animal and its campaigns at public events or street actions when required.

 

5. General Support 

Carry out other activities assigned by the supervisor and director, and follow all procedures set by Sinergia Animal.

 

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess most, if not all, of the following qualities, skills, and characteristics:

 

  • A Thai citizen currently living in Bangkok

  • Experience in communications: At least four years of experience in digital communications, social media management, journalism, public relations, or a related field 

  • Strong writing and editing skills in both Thai and English, with the ability to create engaging, audience-appropriate content 

  • Proficiency in social media platforms, digital content planning tools, and ads 

  • Proficiency in basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software for creating social media content

  • Experience in media relations, including writing press releases, coordinating outreach, or acting as a spokesperson 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in representing the organization in meetings and public events 

  • Commitment to animal protection and alignment with Sinergia Animal’s mission and values 

  • Proven ability to work both independently and in close coordination with a remote team

  • Ability to travel, as needed
