About Sinergia Animal

Rated as one of the world's most effective animal protection organizations by Animal Charity Evaluators, Sinergia Animal is an international campaigning organization working in countries from the Global South (specifically Latin America and Southeast Asia) to reduce animal suffering and promote more compassionate food choices.

We use negotiations, investigations, peaceful direct actions, and innovative campaigning methods to expose the suffering of farmed animals and to help build a world in which no animals are exploited for food.

About the position

This vacancy is mostly focused on engaging with egg producers, associations of producers, and government officials to help boost cage-free production in Indonesia.

This position will be part of our corporate engagement team, where we negotiate and persuade major food corporations to adopt and implement policies to phase out the use of animal products that originate from the worst forms of animal production systems, with a focus on intensive confinement practices. While other colleagues work on getting companies to announce cage-free commitments, this position will work directly with producers to get cage-free eggs readily available in the region and to help make cages a thing of the past.

  • Research and build a database of small, medium, and large egg producers, industry associations, industry media outlets, leading universities, and key government bodies involved in egg production in Indonesia

  • Engage with and visit them to talk about the benefits of switching to or starting cage-free egg production

  • Attend and give lectures at industry and academic events

  • Provide producers with information about training opportunities available nationally and internationally

  • Create technical materials about cage-free production in the region

  • Support our corporate engagement team with information from producers, and with technical details

  • Travel regionally, as necessary, to meet contacts

  • Represent Sinergia Animal and its campaigns at public events, and with the NGO and animal protection communities at large

  • Help proofread materials from other departments as necessary

  • Carry out other activities assigned by the supervisor, director, and/or president, and follow all procedures set by Sinergia Animal

  • Degree in veterinary or animal science

  • Indonesian citizen currently living in Indonesia (Jakarta preferable; however, people who are able and willing to travel to Jakarta are welcome to apply)

  • Fluent in English

  • Excellent oral communication, writing, and proofreading skills

  • Excellent research skills

  • Proven ability to work both independently and in close coordination with a remote team

  • Must be able to work within deadlines and manage multiple projects

  • Strong time management skills

  • Commitment to the mission and objectives of the organization

  • Commitment to non-violent direct actions

  • Previous experience in business, communications, or campaigning is desirable

  • Previous knowledge, studies, or qualifications in animal welfare standards in the livestock sector is highly desirable

Enthusiasm and proactiveness are very important to us. Even if you don't tick all the bullet points of this requirement list, if you're very excited about this role, then we want to hear from you!
